How do I cancel my VIP membership?

It is 100% free to cancel your account and only takes a minute.

For your protection, we do not make any changes to your account over the phone. You must cancel your account in person by the 25th of the month in order to not be billed (If you cancel after the 25th of the month, we will not be able to stop the billing from going through.).

For your convenience, you can make changes at any of our 15 Twin Cities $5 Tan locations. Just simply swing by a location before the 25th of the month and let the employee know you would like to cancel or freeze. They will have you electronically sign the appropriate form, and you are done. You will still be able to tan through the end of that month.

Note: If you have just signed up and have never been billed before, you must be billed at least one month before your account can be cancelled.

What is Stay & Save?

Stay & Save FREEZES your membership with NO reinstatement fee. Your account will be debited only $5 per month keeping it active. As long as your account stays active and in good standing for the duration of this freeze, your account will be awarded $4.01 in-store credit for upgrades and/or product purchases per month it was frozen, for up to 12 months.

You will also be allowed your special product discount while your account is on freeze.

How do I put my account on Stay & Save?

You may put your $5 Tan Membership on Stay & Save by filling out our Stay & Save form at any $5 Tan location BEFORE the 25th of the month–otherwise, one final debit on the 1st of the month will be made as scheduled. Your account can be placed on the Stay & Save Program once per calendar year. Account changes cannot be made over the phone. If your account is delinquent, your $5 award will not be available.

Note: If you have just signed up and have never been billed before, you must be billed at least one month before your account can be frozen. Our memberships are monthly memberships and do require at least one month in order for it to be a monthly membership.

Can I just pay cash for my monthly membership?

If the membership you are joining is an EFT/Credit Card membership, your account must be set up with a Credit Card, Debit Card, Checking Account, or Savings Account. However, there are no contracts or commitments beyond the first month of billing, so any month you would like to not be billed you can easily put your account on hold for free or cancel.

Can I share my membership with someone else?

If you have a monthly membership, you CANNOT share it with anyone. Accounts are set up for only one person, and only one customer’s tanning activity can be saved as required by law. Each person tanning will need to set up their own individual account and/or membership to tan. We do offer packages that are shareable!

Can I use my tans at any $5 Tan?

All tanning or spray tanning may be used at any of our 15 locations.

Can I make changes to my account online?

We would love to bring you this feature very soon and are working hard to do so. You may make changes at your local salon in person. We would be very happy to help you in any way that is convenient for you.

Can I make changes to my account over the phone?

For your account’s protection, we do not make any changes or allow any purchases to accounts over the phone. Changes must be done in person at any location by the 25th of the month.

Is my billing information secure?

Your billing information is safe. $5 Tan does not have access to your Credit Card number, and we do not store your billing information locally. Billing information is encrypted and securely stored with billing merchant First Data.

Why is there an additional 10% added to my tanning service?

As of July 1, 2010, the federal government has charged a 10% tax on indoor tanning. We regret that we are required to charge this tax, and encourage you to contact your elected officials with any comments.
